My question is, should this make it clear to the monsters that it is an illusion immediately (physical interaction = illusion revealed?), should it grant them a free check (no rule says this), or should it still require an active action check (and save vs DC) as per the rules of the spell? One of my players like to use it to "hide" themselves and the rest of the party, who then shoot their spells, longbow attacks etc. I was wondering if I could get some advice on how to rule illusion spells, such as silent image in combat.
